The jack did all the work.
How to jack up a porch roof.
I set it about a foot out from the house as not to interfere with where i needed to work on the column.
Put your level on the porch roof beam parallel to the front of the porch and that is probably what you ll find happened.
Fortunately the adjustment i needed to make was a common size.
With this initially setup i was able to get about 7 8.
Using a scrap piece of durock cement board i cranked the jack up to give it pressure enough to hold it in place.
Once it is plumb mark the position on the porch roof.
Using 8 x 8 x 8 half cinder blocks i build a column to support the jack i would use to raise the porch.
Measure from the porch beam to the jack and cut the 4 4 to just under this length.
Position a mounting bracket at one of the marks on the bottom of the porch.
Position a jack directly under the porch beam next to the column.
In this video i jack up the corner of porch roof so that i can successfully install a section of half round gutter.
I started by sitting the jack on the porch floor immediately above the porch s skirt board.
Stand a post up in the bracket and hold a level on its side.
Position the post and use the jack to raise the porch beam slightly until the old column can be removed.
Check to make sure the porch beam is level by raising or lowering the jack.
Bird mouth the top cut and dig a small kicker in at the bottom of course i ll usually have post jacks in place somewhere so i can slightly jack up the roof to release the column.
If that is the case don t bring the high side down like you did with the deck.
Raise the sagging side back up where it belongs and you ll be able to install equal length posts.
Stakes go down about 18 to 24 could also use a permanent steel or wood posts in place then just build around it if your not changing out the footing.
Install another bracket in this position.
